From
I-W’s experience comes its efficiency and
quality. They are based on
I-W’s methods and management techniques,
which uniquely characterise the company.
I-W makes its procedures work
well through its tried and tested methods.
One example is the
I-W
Procedures Manual. It has
evolved from the experience of managers and trade operatives and is used
to help identify problems and solutions in advance. Another
I-W
unique
characteristic in this vital area of communication, co-operation and
co-ordination, is the regular Saturday morning meeting for all the staff
at the Bedford HQ. Here, once-a-week, off-site they discuss on-site
situations, exchange key information; on projects, on solving problems, on
routes forward and on ‘winning ways’, without taking out weekday time
which could prejudice site efficiency. The management team allocates
resources ready in advance for the next Monday morning.
I-W
achievements also include its ability to
integrate quantity surveyors and construction managers to work
successfully together.
All
I-W
operatives are directly employed. Many have
been with
I-W
for ten years or more and today I-W
employs more than 450 trade
operatives and 45 staff.
