Timber Cladding

Overview

I-W’s history could be said to be firmly set in bricks and mortar, and whit this may have been the case, over recent years I-W have been busy transforming the business into the complete wall solution provider.

One key area to this solution is Timber Cladding, be it a traditional stick system such as PMV/Shiplap boarding or the less traditional Timber Rainscreen Cladding.

I-W have worked on a number of projects using different timber solutions such as Western Red Cedar, Siberian Larch, Cumaru, all sourced from legal & sustainable supply chains with chain of custody where required.

Featured Project - St Mary Magdalene Academy

St Mary MagdaleneSt Mary Magdalene academy in Islington has already been shortlisted for a number of accolades. From an I-W perspective, however, it posed a considerable number of design, detailing and engineering challenges. Our scope comprised lightweight clay tile cladding, timber cladding, coloured render, steel framed system walling and secondary steelwork. This multitude of façade treatments led to the development of a number of unique interface solutions.

The distinguishing feature of the project is the large Ichthus (early Christian fish symbol) that dominates the Liverpool Road elevation.  The Cumaru hardwood fins are cleverly routed and fitted in such a way that the fish appears to face a different direction depending on the position of the sun.
